TEACHING

Sharing my love of art took the form of teaching for several years as I taught a Homeschool art class for about 20 children ranging in age from kindergarten to high school for over 6 years.  My students would come and go, but I had a core group that stuck with me through the years.  I loved watching them grow in their skill, creativity and imagination.

MY OTHER INTERESTS

I also became interested in natural health and pursued my education in that area attaining a degree in Naturopathy and my certification as a Natural Health Practitioner.  I love helping people take control of their own health.  I know from personal experience that we creative types often neglect our health, so if that is you, check out my other passion at my Nature's Sunshine page.

"When I paint...the stresses of life melt away and I get lost in the canvas."

Lives & works in West Palm Beach, FL

I think I've always liked to draw and create.  For as long as I can remember art class was my favorite thing about school.

The inspiration for most of my work is the Ocean.  The vibrant Teals and Aqua Blue colors of our water here in Florida make me feel the ocean breeze and smell the salt air as I paint.

I dream of living on the beach one day, and until then, I spend as much time as possible walking along the shore and taking pictures I later use as inspiration for my paintings.

My media of choice is currently acrylics on canvas.  I love the soothing sound the brush makes as it catches on the canvas or the lapping sound of a fully loaded brush sweeping across the surface.  It is almost hynotic and draws me into the piece.

Painting has given me a new perspective on viewing the world.  I now don't just "look" at the clouds, I study them.  I don't just "stare" out at the ocean, I now focus on how the bubbles roll up on the shoreline, and how the foam follows up the wave until it spills over the top in a crashing crescendo of beauty.  While my work is not hyper realistic, I create the feeling I get from a subject, the feeling I hope my audience will experience as well.

I find painting gives me a great sense of peace.  I hope people will find my paintings as relaxing and enjoyable to look at as they were for me to paint.
